The project prioritizes official and primary material. These references support the census profiles, constitutional context, federalism discussion and base map.

Population and census data

The district explorer uses the PakPC2023 package by Muhammad Yaseen (GPL-2), derived from PBS census tables. Download the snapshot, denominators and reuse notes.

Map geometry and licence

The homepage, full map, district explorer and map gallery use the WFP/OCHA Common Operational Dataset via HDX, licensed CC BY-IGO. The source contains 160 district boundaries dated 9 September 2022 and were reviewed on 27 September 2024. This replaces the older GADM/PakData and Wikimedia geometry. Display maps are simplified; the full map uses geographic coordinates. Census statistics are a separate 2023 snapshot. See coverage and limitations.

Election results and constituencies

Election views are provisional historical snapshots, not certified final outcomes or current officeholders. The comparison desk also includes available 2018 Provincial Assembly entries from Colin Cookman’s compilation (GPL-3). Verified 2024 PA results and PA map boundaries are not available in this release.

Source tables and district definitions can change. If you identify an attribution problem, transcription error or mismatch with an official table, please send the affected province, figure and source link to info@subaypakistan.org.

District boundary coverage

All 136 PBS 2023 census entries remain available in the district list. The map supports 131 district identities using dated WFP/OCHA geometry. Surab, Keamari, Karachi West, Karachi South and Malir have no sufficiently verified census-year outline in this release. Their reference outlines open explicit census-record choices. Shared outlines show stripes when their districts belong to different proposal areas. GB and AJK remain visible without entering the 136-record census totals.

The source-ID crosswalk splits old Lehri geometry into Bhag (Kachhi) and Lehri (Sibi), following PBS Table 1. Map tooltips use census names only. Read the coverage audit · Download the crosswalk. Administrative geometry is not a certified political outline; see the Survey of Pakistan political map.

Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir

Both are included in the interactive map without being counted as additional proposal provinces. AJK population, urban/rural totals and growth use the 2023 census tables in AJK at a Glance 2025, pages 2–4. GB area uses the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan. Unverified indicators are omitted. These figures are not added to the proposal comparison baseline. Full-map regional grouping follows the existing GADM/PakData administrative geometry; older district names and boundaries are not current district profiles.
